Program Description:
Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico – January 6-14, 2024

This is a faculty-supervised, hands-on, group experience in the biological sciences that is associated with the course Biology of Oceanic Islands (BIOL-22300). This experience will involve traveling to Puerto Rico, including the smaller island of Vieques, over the January break. Students will participate in activities associated with ongoing faculty research projects in Puerto Rico including making observations, taking measurements, recording data, and analyzing data.

•1 credit (included in trip cost)
•Trip cost: $1,100 (airfare not included) – (cost is less if more than 7 students go)

•Travel to Vieques Island
•Participate in some data gathering (3 projects); analysis
•Visit Bioluminescent bay
•Return to San Juan (see rainforest, Old City, etc.)


Application deadline: Friday, October 13
Deposit deadline: Wednesday, November 1
Final payment: Friday, December 15
